Hot water bottle story: Eisbach – Hawaii. Or Munich? Ben's favorite activity is surfing. When he's on his board, he blocks out everything else, he says. That's practical because he doesn't even notice that he's not in Hawaii or on the coast of Nazaré.

Eisbach.

Ben lives and studies in Munich. The Eisbach wave in the English Garden is therefore the ideal surfing spot for him. Centrally located in the city center, it is easy to get to and has served as a training wave for many future surfing professionals. The name Eisbach is not a coincidence.

Especially in winter. When temperatures are around freezing, a morning surfing trip feels like a trip to a cold chamber. The right equipment is therefore essential and has a name: neoprene. In winter, surfing without a neoprene suit is impossible. At least if you don't want to freeze to death. But Ben has another warm insider tip: his Hugo Frosch hot water bottle with a neoprene cover.

In the morning, before he leaves his apartment, he fills them with hot water and packs them with the rest of his surfing equipment. And Hugo Frosch hot water bottles are almost as durable as Ben himself. They keep the heat for a particularly long time.

It pays off: when it finally gets too cold for Ben and he leaves the water, his Hugo Frosch hot water bottle still radiates a pleasant warmth. It's always a great moment for him, he explains. The brief pause that follows the adrenaline rush on the Eisbach. Taking a deep breath after riding the waves. And of course, warming up.

Hawaii. Or Munich?

It all starts with clothes that are at the right temperature: Because Ben is not stupid, he always wraps his hot water bottle in his dry clothes.

And then he enjoys the mobile heater as a top-class hand warmer - while he watches the other surfers. And they, in turn, cast a few envious glances at Ben. And his hot water bottle. After Ben has successfully avoided freezing to death, he says goodbye to his colleagues with a casual surfer's greeting. His hands probably wouldn't have managed that so smoothly without the hot water bottle.
